The Perrin shifter bushing does not change the geometry of the shifting mechanism, so you won't get a shorter throw.
What the Perrin bushing does is eliminate the excessive play and sloppiness for more solid gear changes.
This will give you a tighter, more confident feel when rowing through the gears, especially for 2-3 and 3-2 shifts.
Installation is done from under the car and should take less than 30 minutes with common hand tools.
